Emerge possesses a comprehen Listen to the interview between Andrrew Bryan and Dore Frances of LATalk Radio Read about the intervew between Andrew Bryan and Dore Frances of LATalk Radio. sive knowledge of the components leading to independent living and emancipation for young adults. Our model is based on the premise that people learn basic life skills through positive interaction with the world around them. Emerge provides both the academic resources and life coaching support to help instill positive change in each client's approach to the college experience.

Through this young adult transitional program's components, students and parents receive ongoing support and guidance. Details of this transitional approach are proposed through a client's on-site visit and preparation leading to the beginning of their first college term with Emerge. Each student's program is highly individualized and components are designed based on their specific needs and goals. The coaching and mentoring program is focused on gaining skills toward independence and emancipation, as well as solidifying the student's plan for college success.

Students are able to apply and begin the Emerge experience in Boise, Idaho, on a rolling basis. With a variety of positive volunteer, internship and vocational options in the Boise area, students can relocate and start their transition midterm while preparing for the next semester at Boise State University. Students also may benefit from college course options arranged through flexible start dates from within the Emerge program. Students live in private dorms adjacent to Boise State and blocks from downtown, allowing for students to start the program at any time throughout the year, or in on campus housing for those entering Emerge at the beginning of a college term.

The Emerge Distance Coaching Model allows for students starting at the beginning of a college term or at any time during the year depending on their current circumstances.  We begin by traveling to the student on their campus or in their locale, typically spending two days working to understand their current challenges and begin to develop solutions leading to their next steps.  This includes developing a plan and pattern for ongoing coaching sessions and overseeing local support for a student, as well as continued communication with parents.

Please see the section on College Success Coaching Options for more detailed information.
